Protect yourself against the flu to keep feeling good
You may not realise that the flu is a serious illness. The headaches, runny nose, cough and achy muscle may lead you to confuse it with a heavy cold (1). Yet every year, hundreds of thousands of people develop very severe complications with the flu (1).
Getting the flu vaccine every year is the best way to protect yourself from the flu and is especially important if you are at high risk of flu complications (2), or who live with or care for anyone at high risk.
Vaccination trains our immune systems first to fight the flu and then to remember how to fight it (3). If the real flu virus comes along, our bodies are then well equipped to combat it (3). Let’s compare the flu experience with and without a vaccine.
