Influenza Hub wins Gold at The European Association Awards 2018

The Influenza Hub has been awarded Gold at The European Association Awards 2018. The initiative received the Golden Award for ‘Best Association Partnership & Collaboration’ in Brussels on February 23rd.

The European Association Awards praised the initiative on its innovative approach, combining companies and organisations to promote awareness of the flu in different risk groups.

The Influenza Hub’s concise yet comprehensive information on flu symptoms, risks and prevention acts as the foundation for its creative social media campaigns. Peer-to-peer shareable assets allow the hub to provide targeted information to high-risk groups while connecting with broader audiences.

Targeting the most vulnerable

Traditional methods of encouraging populations to protect themselves from the flu have failed to make a real difference. This is why ZN Consulting, the World Medical Association (WMA), the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Associations (IFPMA), Mylan, Sanofi Pasteur and others partnered to set up the Influenza Hub to raise awareness about the flu and the need for prevention.

With research showing the elderly’s use of social media rising, the Influenza Hub saw an opportunity to help change the behaviour of those over 65 years of age. It developed its first targeted campaign:

Available in English, German and French, the campaigns ran in France and Germany during the peak flu season and vaccination periods in 2016 and 2017. They achieved 14.4% coverage with 8.1 million impressions, and 5.7 million people reached out of 7.3 million active users over 55s+.

We hope the award will encourage other partners to join our effort as we expand to cover other risk groups, fitting further campaigns under the Influenza Hub umbrella.
